DEEP FEELING IS SCARY...
It takes us into the unknown inside ourselves, into the shadow of our psyche, into the emotions buried inside us since we were children.
But to make ourselves whole, we must be willing to know and reclaim these lost parts.
This workshop is a unique opportunity to discover who you are when you don't hold anything back.
Using the somatic techniques of Core Energetics and the healing power of the group, we’ll help you access, express, and liberate the suppressed emotions that have kept you from realizing the full potential of your power, creativity, and love.
“When you withhold and repress your feelings, you impede the natural and spontaneous flow of your love, your joy, your creativity, and the natural abundance that wants to come to you.”
This event is a three-hour introduction to
The Power and Practice of Deep Feeling Workshops and Retreats,
described in detail below.
It's an opportunity to meet the facilitators, Angela and Dave, and experience the transformative power of this work.
WHERE: WAKAN STUDIO - AUSTIN, TX
WHEN: April 30, 1:00 - 4:00pm

"I couldn't believe the deeply connected bonds that were formed between myself and almost complete strangers, and how sharing myself in a vulnerable way could ignite so much freedom and expression in me. I was able to go into my deepest/truest feelings and pain, and explore and express what was there in its most authentic form." - JENNIFER MANSEL
"Working with Dave and Angela has changed my life. I have more confidence in myself, more connection to the world, and renewed faith about my future. Memories and experiences from their workshop will be imprinted on my mind and in my soul forever." -ELI HARRIGAN
WHY DEEP FEELING?
Most of us don’t know that at a young age, we made a promise to ourselves that said something like:
“I will never feel this feeling again!”
And we have kept that promise. Sometimes for decades.
“But I feel my feelings," you say.
"I feel rage, joy, fear, sadness. I’ve been in therapy for years. I meditate. I do breathwork. I do yoga. I’ve done psychedelics. I’ve done the work!”
But there’s still. Something. Stuck.
Something you can’t quite put your finger on.
What was that feeling you promised yourself
you would never feel again?
Do you remember?
Some of our emotions are so repressed, we're not even aware of them. We don’t know that they are unconsciously guiding our decisions.
We created brilliant strategies as children to protect ourselves from the situations or people that were threatening to our very survival. And now, we live in those safety patterns to keep ourselves from being hurt.
We defend against feeling the thing we most do not want to feel...
And then, we recreate patterns.
• You keep the weight on.
• You keep having the same fight in your relationship.
• You keep taking care of everyone else around you except yourself.
• You keep ending up alone.
• You keep feeling empty despite doing all the right things.
You know the pattern – but you
won’t feel what’s underneath.
Because you made that promise when you were a child.
Because as a child, that feeling was unbearable.
But now you are an adult.
You can feel the unbearable.
You MUST feel the unbearable.
You must feel what was unbearable to feel if you want to break out of the pattern.
• If you want to let go of the hidden, bitter resentment.
• If you want to let go of the thin layer of pretending.
• If you want to truly know yourself.
• If you want to feel fully alive.
• If you want to truly have a
deeper connection to yourself,
to others, and to God.
This is not an easy thing to do.
For most, it’s impossible to do alone.
We need someone who can be with us in a supportive way that allows us to know we will not be abandoned or shamed or hurt by feeling what we were not able to feel all those years ago.
We need someone who can support us to know that if we are abandoned or shamed or hurt, we are strong enough to bear that now ~ as adults.
We have to know that
in order to grow up.
If you are able to receive that support, it will be a reparative experience...
That reparative experience will free you.
Your energy and time will no longer be wasted in a million little ways defending yourself from not feeling.
You will no longer be unconsciously repeating the same patterns over and over again… because you’ll awaken to the fact that you have a real choice to act in new ways and create a new experience of life.
And you will no longer be stuck in indecision and fear to make that new choice… because you will know there is nothing you can’t feel.
You will feel stronger and more confident than you’ve ever felt before.
And you will walk in the world more honestly and vulnerably yourself.
I used to live by beliefs like: “I can’t express my anger because I have no good reason to feel this way” or “I can’t express my anger because I don’t even know how to” or “I can’t express anger or I’ll feel irrational and guilty.”
After I attended my first Core Energetics Retreat in Austin led by Dave and Angela, I feel as though I can access and express my dormant anger. It was like it gave me permission to let it out and so in the months afterwards, I have healthily expressed my anger and witnessed it with more awareness than ever before. I don’t release it in the passive-aggressive ways I used to or in a burst of rage abruptly spewing out for a decade-long grudge. And I find that people can receive it! And of course other times, it’s NOT for people at all, it’s for me to express in solitude...
The confrontation, vulnerability, and discomfort of being seen in “bad” or “weak” feeling states: crazy bitch, coward, weak, vengeful, cruel, angry, humiliated, in love, in grief, in fear, too much, not enough– helped me express my full range and that’s really freeing! The exercises that Dave and Angela lead, get you into your primal, unconscious feelings using body awareness, sound, and non-verbal interactions that cut past your masks and bravado and conscious mind. - SAMANTHA STEVEN
There will be:
• Movement, sound, and appropriate touch. Boundaries are always respected.
• Connection, laughter, and play. Fun and pleasure are integral to healing.
• Structured exercises and times that feel like "controlled chaos". To access deep parts of ourselves, it's necessary to enter into the unknown, and let go of the ways we habitually control.
This workshop will bring you into
You will likely experience and be in the presence of powerful emotional expression.
You will only be asked to participate in whatever way feels right for you.
We honor your autonomy, your right to work at your pace, in your way.
Creating safety is paramount. Safety creates a container that allows for deep work and healing.
“David and Angela are each highly experienced coaches, and so any occasion to work with them in tandem is a powerfully enriching opportunity to work with a literal dream team. Both uncannily intuitive, David brings a gutsy, grounded frame, providing a spectrum of support ranging from gentle to gritty, and everything in-between as the need arises, his deep compassion and courage ever in service to the gestalt of the Group. Angela, an equally astonishing maestro of Group dynamics, taps in to a preternaturally healing, transformative, wisdom. With such facilitators, whatever a heart is holding can be safely released, witnessed, and held. Though words cannot describe the unique lessons each person will unlock for themselves through the willingness to embody fully their truths, David and Angela’s workshops provided the perfect storm to connect in a life-altering way to myself, to others, and even to touch that inexplicably mysterious space of the sacred." -LINDSEY MEILING
"The last workshop I attended with David was one of, if not the most life-altering, emotionally-reconfiguring events of my life. While part of this was from never having experienced somatic group therapy before (which deserves thousands of billboards on its own), what David uniquely brings to his practice, among countless other remarkable qualities I’ve seen in RA/CE practitioners, is his emotional and expressive range.
As someone who had trouble stepping into his power, loudness, and aggression, it helped tremendously to process myself within a space where the facilitator could articulate the emotional edges we were allowed to expand into with such controlled embodiment. David made us feel safe enough to release feelings some of us may have never otherwise found a space for. Exceptional; worth traveling for." -JUSTIN KIM

WHAT IS CORE ENERGETICS?
Core Energetics is a dynamic body-based process that works with our unconscious resistance to being fully alive and present. Core works with the body as a means of exploring the unconscious mind. Physical techniques are used to support the expression of held-back feelings, with the intention of bringing consciousness to them. The liberation and integration of these feelings brings greater awareness, presence, self-knowledge, self-acceptance, and a renewed connection to the physical, emotional, and spiritual vitality that is our birthright.
